Self tape Process
Description
Self-tapes are a primary method for casting in the industry, particularly for the first round of auditions, and often for subsequent rounds as well. Their importance grew during the COVID-19 pandemic out of necessity, and the industry has largely continued with self-tapes due to their convenience and ability to accommodate more auditions. This self-tape is for an audition for a short film titled Spin Bottle. Here are some key tips to remember when creating a self-tape:
• Ensure you understand the character and make bold, informed choices.
• Film in a spacious area with a clear, distraction-free background.
• Avoid doing too many takes in one session, and take breaks to prevent frustration.
• When performing monologues, choose pieces that align with your casting type. Refresh them periodically if you feel stuck to ensure you deliver your best performance.
